The Ellijay Cigar Lounge punches well above its weight for the size of the town it calls home. Located on the second floor of a building in downtown Ellijay, the lounge offers comfortable seating, a solid above average humidor, a billiard table, games, accessories, and a patio overlooking the town. The membership program is one of the more thoughtful setups you’ll find at an independent lounge, offering tiered options with real perks including BYOB privileges, purchase discounts, lockers, and designated parking. No alcohol is served, but the membership structure more than compensates. Ventilation held up well at lower occupancy but showed some strain as the room filled. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the vibe is genuinely small town without sacrificing any of the lounge quality you’d want. Ellijay itself is worth the trip, and this lounge is a natural anchor for it.
Above average in size and well stocked with a wide variety of cigars. There’s a notably strong JC Newman presence throughout, both in the humidor selection and in accessories around the lounge, which feels intentional and curated rather than incidental. That said, there are plenty of brands that are sure to fit any palette. Pipe smokers are also well served with both pipes and tobacco on hand. One house rule worth knowing upfront: outside cigars are not permitted, so plan to purchase your smoke here.
The second floor location gives the lounge an elevated feel, literally, with a patio overlooking downtown Ellijay that’s worth spending time on. Inside, the space is rustic and warm with plenty of comfortable seating, a billiard table, and classic games like chess, checkers, and backgammon if you want something to do between draws. Clean throughout. Ventilation was decent during lighter occupancy but noticeably struggled to keep pace as more smokers settled in, leaving a fair amount of haze in the room. Something to factor in on busy nights or event days.
Staff are engaging, knowledgeable, and carry that genuine small town friendliness that you can’t train into people. The crowd reflects the town: local, relaxed, and welcoming to visitors who appreciate what Ellijay is.
Ellijay is worth knowing about on its own terms. Dubbed both the Apple Capital of Georgia and the Mountain Biking Capital of Georgia, it also sits just minutes from Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, making it a natural basecamp for outdoor enthusiasts.
